 Welcome to the Managing Patients with Limited Treatment Options edition of the Online Meeting Highlights. Here you will learn how to define multiclass HIV resistance and interpret resistance test results, understand what are the available treatment options including drugs with novel modes of action, and which basic principle should be followed when selecting a new regimen.

The Online Meeting Highlights series continues with an edition dedicated to the management of HIV patients with limited treatment options.
The emergence and transmission of multiclass HIV drug resistance limit treatment options and pose a serious threat to HIV response. In this edition of the Online Meeting Highlights, you will learn how to define multiclass HIV resistance and interpret resistance test results, understand what are the available treatment options including drugs with novel modes of action, and which basic principle should be followed when selecting a new regimen.

This will be rounded up by a discussion of a representative clinical case, exemplifying the pathway of a patient with multiclass HIV drug resistance - a case you might see and discuss when reaching out for additional ID/HIV help.
All modules can be followed independently and at your own pace. Complete the entire course to make a significant impact on the survival and quality of life of your patients by expertly deploying treatment strategies.
After following this eLearning activity, you will be able to:

  • Define multiclass HIV drug resistance and outline factors that determine the frequency of HIV resistance in surveillance studies;
  • Evaluate current options for active drugs in patients with multiclass resistance, including new drugs with a novel mechanism of action and no-cross resistance;
  • Understand basic principles when choosing a new ARV regimen for a patient with multiclass resistant HIV.

To obtain your certificate, you have complete all three modules, passed the relevant assessments and answered the evaluation survey.

Duration: approximately 20 minutes per module

The program is aimed at clinicians from various specialties who occasionally treat HIV patients, such as primary care physicians, family doctors, OBGYN, transgender healthcare clinicians, adolescent medicine professionals, and preventive medicine professionals, as well as public health workers and researchers engaged in HIV related disciplines at varying degrees.
