Understanding UK Birth, Marriage & Death Certificates (Family Ancestry Tips)

Birth, Marriage and Death certificates (BMDs for short) are critical to any family historian looking to research their UK ancestry. This short course will provide background, illustrations and interactive quiz questions to help you understand the key points and take your research further.

At the end of this course students will be able to:

  • Search for and obtain copies of their ancestor's original UK BMD certificates
  • Understand the data provided
  • Understand how this information can help push their family history research further

This course is designed for beginners to UK ancestry and genealogy and serves as an introduction to the larger course How to Trace Your Family Tree Online - Fundamentals of Genealogy and Family Tree Research.
