In Unit 1, we look at the different factors which contributed to the recognition of Responsible Consumption and Production as a Sustainable Development Goal by the United Nations. Unit 2 focuses on the targets set under Goal 12. Unit 3 is a study of the companies and figures that are working to make Goal 12 a reality by 2030. Finally, Unit 4 gives you the opportunity to apply what you learn and take meaningful actions to contribute to this goal.
This goal is all about the numbers- some countries are producing and wasting way too many products while others barely have enough. According to the UNCTAD, rich countries waste 222 MILLION TONS of food per year, which equals the entire food produced by sub-saharan Africa. We could drown you in other horrible statistics, but it should be enough to get you angry and push you to take action! What are you waiting for- take the course.
