Introduzione alla Storia del Design (POK)

L’evoluzione del design dalle sue origini ai nostri giorni (1750-oggi). Il corso intende fornire una traccia per la storia del design, in considerazione dei fondamenti teorici e dei progetti che contrassegnano la sua evoluzione e i suoi impatti sulla società, a partire dalla prima rivoluzione industriale fino ai nostri giorni, dalla concezione artigianale alla produzione industriale..

Le lezioni frontali affronteranno in ordine cronologico i principali autori inquadrandoli nel loro contesto storico e produttivo attraverso i loro progetti. Oltre alle lezioni frontali verranno fornite delle esercitazioni volte alla verifica della memorizzazione e comprensione dei concetti chiave e dell’evoluzione storica del design.

Il corso si articola in 4 weeks dai focus specifici:
Week 1 – 1750-1910 Dalla rivoluzione industriale alla Deutscher Werkbund: trasformazione dell’artigianato e nuovi linguaggi con la rivoluzione industriale
Week 2 – 1910-40 Il contesto europeo e italiano dagli anni ‘10 agli anni ‘40: le avanguardie artistiche europee costituiscono la premessa per il movimento moderno scandito in funzionalismo, razionalismo, design scandinavo e Novecento Italiano; dall’analisi dell’Italia negli anni ‘30 all’International Style
Week 3 – 1950-80 Dal secondo dopoguerra agli anni ‘70: USA e Germania a confronto, boom economico e avvento del made in Italy
Week 4 – 1990-oggi: Verso il design di oggi: nuovi linguaggi radicali del made in Italy e affermazione del Sistema Design Milano

PREREQUISITI
Non sono richieste conoscenze specifiche pregresse per poter seguire il corso.
Tuttavia, prerequisiti per la disciplina del design, sono l’orientamento cronologico, la conoscenza dei principali eventi della storia dalla seconda metà del XVII secolo fino alla contemporaneità, con particolare attenzione agli eventi storici più rilevanti del XX secolo.
