El curso presenta los elementos básicos y las tendencias para realizar una evaluación completa del entorno construido y desarrolla las herramientas para el análisis de impacto de la política de sostenibilidad urbana.

El curso presenta los elementos básicos y las tendencias actuales para realizar una evaluación completa del entorno construido y desarrolla las herramientas para el análisis de impacto de la política de sostenibilidad urbana.
Durante la primera semana, las dimensiones de la sostenibilidad urbana se introducen primero a través de un análisis de los clásicos, seguido de una conferencia magistral sobre el cambio climático a cargo del premio Nobel Edward S. Rubin y finalizando con una entrevista al fallecido premio Nobel Sir Harold Kroto sobre Nanociencia.
En la segunda semana se construye la conexión con las herramientas disponibles a través de la ciencia para hacer que nuestras ciudades sean sostenibles. El primer video desarrolla las posibilidades de los nanomateriales, seguido del impacto clave de la infraestructura verde en el metabolismo de la ciudad y termina con un análisis del papel de las redes inteligentes en la distribución de energía para las ciudades del futuro.
En la tercera semana, tratan sobre los conceptos centrales para la evaluación y el análisis de impacto del entorno construido. El primer video desarrolla el marco teórico seguido por el enfoque de Diseño Integrado necesario para una valoración y evaluación de impacto presentada en el último video.
A lo largo de la cuarta semana se reúnen las principales técnicas de modelado de una ciudad para comprender su esencia y campo de aplicación. Comenzando con un enfoque más detallado (BIM), seguido del Análisis del ciclo de vida predominante para terminar con un punto de vista económico a través de la formulación de modelos de negocios.
En la quinta y última semana se presenta el paradigma final previsto de la ciudad circular a partir de la fundamentación de los conceptos que posteriormente se desarrollan en el modelo de Ciudad Circular propuesto. Como punto final se analiza el Plan de Sostenibilidad de la Universidad de British Columbia en Canadá.
