Tamara Razin

Ms. Tamara Razin is a Senior Economist in the Balance of Payments Division of the IMF’s Statistics Department (STA). During 13 years at the IMF, she has contributed to various STA projects in external sector statistics (ESS), including coordinating the drafting of the BPM6 Compilation Guide and authoring several chapters; drafting chapters and coordinating the launch of the Remittance Compilation Guide ; leading the conversion of the IMF balance of payments and international investment position (IIP) database to the BPM6 framework; authoring several working papers on complex methodological issues in ESS; and leading the work for scoping the revision of the BPM6.
Ms. Razin authored the new architecture of IMF training in ESS that includes among others this online basic course as well as the intermediate balance of payments and IIP course. She has been involved in several capacity development initiatives to assist IMF member countries around the world in developing or enhancing their ESS compilation systems.
Ms. Razin is the secretary of the IMF’s Committee on Balance of Payments Statistics—the international forum in charge of developing the ESS methodology.
Prior to joining the IMF, Ms. Razin had been the Deputy Chief of the Balance of Payments Division at the National Bank of Moldova for 13 years and also lectured on macroeconomic statistics at the Academy of Public Relations of Moldova.
