Chris Impey

Chris Impey is a University Distinguished professor at the University of Arizona and Deputy Head of the Astronomy Department. His research interests include observational cosmology, quasars, and distant galaxies. He has written 160 research papers and two astronomy textbooks. He has won eleven teaching awards, and has served as a National Science Foundation Distinguished Teaching Scholar, a Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar, and the Carnegie Council's Arizona Professor of the Year. He is a former Vice President of the American Astronomical Society and a Fellow of the AAAS. He has published six popular science books, with two more in preparation, and one novel.
