Boateng Laurene
Dr. Laurene Boateng, a Registered Dietitian holds a BSc in Biochemistry, and an MPhil in Dietetics from the University of Ghana. She completed her PhD in Nutrition at the University of Ghana in 2017, where her research focused on improving nutritional status of infants and young children in a rural area in Ghana, with complementary foods fortified with moringa oleifera leaf powder.
Laurene joined the faculty of the University of Ghana in 2010, and in her current role as a senior lecturer, she teaches courses in dietetics practice and medical nutrition therapy and serves as the placement coordinator in charge of student dietetic placements in the Department of Dietetics.
She is a member of the Technical Advisory Committee on Nutrition at the Food and Drugs Authority in Ghana. Her research focuses on nutritional status of population groups, and dietetics education and leadership.
Laurene led the team of scientists from the University of Ghana who worked on the Clinical Nutrition MOOC. The other members of the team comprised, Dr. Matilda Asante, Dr. Freda Intiful, Dr. Rebecca Steele – Dadzie, Mrs. Olivera Kegey, and Mr. Maxwell Konlan.
