Sketching Hands the Easy Way (Skillshare)

Offered by Skillshare,
Sketching Hands the Easy Way (Skillshare)

Hands are a drawing subject many artists, beginners as well as professionals struggle with. In a worst case scenario tend to avoid sketching them all together! In this class we will take the complex shape of a hand and break it into smaller, simple shapes that are easier to understand and replicate! :) This will not only make it easier for you to sketch hands but hopefully also more enjoyable. So get your supplies and let's tackle this goal together!

Please don't forget that this class is about using simple shapes and therefore doesn't touch on anatomy. Looking at the bone struckture and muscles as well as many references of real hands will help you understanding them greatly!
Understand the Shapes - Take at least 3 photos of your own hands and draw over them digitally or print them out and draw traditionally. Mark the guidelines we learned! The photos should include at least one front, back and side view of your hand!
Create a Sketch - Sketch the hands on your photos using the guidelines you marked!
Apply What You Learned - Create a sketch of a hand either from imagination or by using your own hand (not a photo) as reference. Try to apply the guidelines to the 3D shape or use them for constructing a hand from your imagination!
Please feel free to ask me anything as well as share your projects in the project gallery to receive my feedback!

Hey guys! My name is Braden and I am a charcoal artist. I have made many tutorial videos on how to draw with charcoal on YouTube, but I wanted to offer exclusive tutorial classes where I can teach my techniques and have them analyzed and critiqued by my students. In this free class, we are going over charcoal types and differences, the necessary tools you will need, and the specific paper that I have found works best for my drawing approach.

Have you ever said, "I'm not an artist" or "I can't draw"? Or have you ever created a piece of artwork and then you looked at it and thought, "my artwork is no good, there's something wrong with it." Not long ago, I said these same things. My turning point came when my nieces taught me that art can be fun and it doesn't have to be expensive.
