Representaciones Culturales de las Sexualidades (Coursera)

Desde los estudios de género, los estudios queer y los estudios culturales, este curso quiere familiarizaros con las representaciones culturales de las sexualidades no normativas en la cultura contemporánea. Planteamos diversos marcos teóricos y ejemplos prácticos a partir de los cuales reflexionar sobre las construcciones corporales e identitarias de las personas lesbianas, gays, transgénero, transexuales, queer, heterosexuales, etc. en diversos soportes culturales como el cine, la literatura, internet, la televisión o las artes plásticas.

De este modo, queremos contribuir al análisis de los discursos normativos sobre el género y la sexualidad que nos construyen como sujetos y nos proporcionan posiciones jerárquicas dentro del marco social.
Entendemos que las representaciones culturales son espacios privilegiados para llevar a cabo este análisis, porque en ellos se materializan tanto los discursos hegemónicos como sus posibilidades de subversión.
Si estás interesado en la cultura, el género y la sexualidad, te invitamos a descubrir este curso. No necesitas conocimientos previos. Si ya estás familiarizad@ con la temática, queremos ofrecer contenidos sugestivos sin descuidar las reflexiones y explicaciones necesarias para aquellos que os adentráis en ella por primera vez.

WEEK 1
Bienvenida y presentación
Antes de empezar a descubrir el curso te proponemos un paseo previo por la platforma y por el curso. Te dejamos unas páginas con informaciones diversas, que consideramos importantes para que aproveches al máximo el curso.

Representación, cultura, sexualidad
En esta primera semana trabajaremos los conceptos de representación, cultura y sexualidad, además de analizar cómo están relacionados. Comentaremos también, a partir de la guía de lectura, el papel que tiene el cuerpo, y sus lecturas, en un contexto cultural específico y siempre a través de su representación.

WEEK 2
Género/s
En esta parte del curso nos preguntamos por los vínculos culturales que existen entre sexo y género. ¿Pueden considerarse equivalentes? ¿Es el género una construcción cultural? ¿Podemos eludir nuestro propio sexo? Revisaremos, también, los roles y las expectativas que cada género produce y perpetúa, preguntándonos por su supuesta naturalidad.

WEEK 3
Trayectorias trans
En esta tercera semana, la reflexión se concentrará en los recorridos que llevan a cabo las sexualidades transexuales e intersexuales, su lectura desde el discurso de poder cultural, los estereotipos a los que se enfrentan y cuál es la importancia de su existencia como cuerpos disidentes en los binomios tradicionales hombre / mujer, homosexual / heterosexual, por mencionar los más obvios.

WEEK 4
Sexualidad(es)
En este módulo nos preguntamos por la norma social con respecto a las sexualidades y sus consecuencias sobre el sujeto. ¿Por qué cuando pensamos en la sexualidad, esta generalmente se representa desde la heterosexualidad? ¿Por qué es importante que existan narrativas culturales que ofrezcan categorías vitales más allá de la norma?

WEEK 5
Categorías y subjetividad
Durante esta quinta semana, entramos de lleno al tema de las categorías identitarias y el lugar que juegan en la constitución del sujeto. También, trabajaremos sobre el perfomance y la posibilidad de resistir el discurso de poder cultural a partir de lo que Judith Butler denomina agencia.

WEEK 6
Comunidad, identidad y alteridad
En esta última semana, después de haber propuesto esta nueva concepción de subjetividad en proceso, viene el momento de pensar cómo estos sujetos post-metafísicos se relacionan entre ellos, ya sea a partir de la conformación de una comunidad, o en la relación que el yo, desde la propia identidad, establece con el Otro, su alteridad. Para cerrar, comentaremos también la importancia que la realidad virtual tiene en estos procesos en la actualidad.
