iPads - Changing the Way We Do Education (OpenLearning)

The iPad technology has extraordinary implications for education and its design, functionality and capabilities enhances the possibility of a technology-based classroom. This is a beginner's course for anyone who has a minimal knowledge as to how to use an iPad. The course will cover lesson and curriculum content, but will also provide instruction on how to use the Settings section and hidden uses of the iPad.

This PD will focus on:
iPads and how they work
Applications - how they fit into The Australian Curriculum & learning outcomes.
Assessment
What can an iPad based classroom look like?
*What do students think?
This PD will provide hands on experiences and ideas for use when you return to your classroom.
The course aims:

  • To develop an awareness of how the iPad works specifically in the context of the classroom.
  • To be able to integrate the iPad into day to day learning activities.
  • To understand & appreciate how iPad technology can enhance student outcomes.
  • To be introduced to various iPad applications & how they can be used in the various curriculum areas.
  • To be able to use the iPad as an assessment tool.

The course will cover:

  • Ipads and their role in a classroom. Why & how iPads can assist in student learning?
  • What does an iPad based classroom look like?
  • What applications can be used in education ie. How applications can be differentiated to suit each child? How applications can be used in conjunction with the classroom program?
  • Instructions on how to use various applications & their use in the curriculum.
