Introduction to User Experience Design (Skillshare)

IUX Design is fun and challenges. Don't be afraid to ask questions early and often. This class is about how to think and make solutions to problems using the tools of UX Design. Some skills you will learn in this class are: how to write personas & user scenarios, build out wireframes, and from the wireframes create a prototype using a style guide. I would love to see what you all create for the class project.

Think of an experience (digital or physical) that could be improved. Who is the experience for, and how would you go about creating this experience for them?
Design Softwares to choose from: Adobe XD (free), Sketch (30day trial), Principle (14day trial), Axure (30day trial), and Invision (free)
Steps:

  1. Persona & User Journey: who is this for & how will the solution fit into their life?
  2. Wireframes: what are you making and how will it work?
  3. Style guide: how will this engage the audience?
  4. Prototype: using wireframe and style-guide to create a prototype.

Tips:

  • Choose an experience that is familiar.
  • Don't worry about making it perfect.
  • Be iterative, don't be scared to change a design if it isn't working the way you thought it would.

I would love to see how your wireframes translated into the prototype.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Education for Teachers (Coursera)

Today’s learners need to know what artificial intelligence (AI) is, how it works, how to use it in their everyday lives, and how it could potentially be used in their future. Using AI requires skills and values which extend far beyond simply having knowledge about coding and technology. This course is designed by teachers, for teachers, and will bridge the gap between commonly held beliefs about AI, and what it really is. AI can be embedded into all areas of the school curriculum and this course will show you how. This course will appeal to teachers who want to increase their general understanding of AI, including why it is important for learners; and/or to those who want to embed AI into their teaching practice and their students’ learning.

Digital Product Management: Modern Fundamentals (Coursera)

Not so long ago, the job of product manager was about assessing market data, creating requirements, and managing the hand-off to sales/marketing. Maybe you’d talk to a customer somewhere in there and they’d tell you what features they wanted. But companies that manage product that way are dying. Being a product person today is a new game, and product managers are at the center of it. Today, particularly if your product is mostly digital, you might update it several times a day. Massive troves of data are available for making decisions and, at the same time, deep insights into customer motivation and experience are more important than ever.

Planning a Patient Safety or Quality Improvement Project (Patient Safety III) (Coursera)

This course provides students with a set of tools and methodologies to plan and initiate a Problem Solving or Quality Improvement project. The first module presents methods for selecting, scoping and structuring a project before it is even initiated. It also introduces the project classifications of implementation and discovery. The second module describes the A3 problem solving methodology and the tool itself. Further in that same module, the student is shown tools to identify problems in flow, defects, and waste and to discover causes, brainstorm, and prioritize interventions. Module 3 shows a methodology within the implementation class. These methods are designed to overcome emotional and organizational barriers to translating evidence-based interventions into practice. The fourth and last module looks at one more way to approach improvement projects in the discovery class. These tools are specifically for new, out-of-the-box design thinking.

Validating product ideas with interviews for Product Managers (Skillshare)

I designed this course for Product Managers who have new product or feature ideas and would like to talk to customers and learn whether their idea will fly. This is the first and ultimate question in product development: do customers need my product? Do they need it so dearly that they would actually pay for it? So, how do you figure this out before actually building the product? Well, user research has your back covered. You can find out whether customers need a product or a feature even before you wrote a single line of code.
