Chess can be an extremely fun and rewarding hobby, with huge variety of options for playstyle and a skill-cap so high that there’s always more to learn. My name is Sam, and I started playing chess seriously around five years ago and had a lot of trouble trying to find the best place to start improving my game since there are so many resources available. If this also describes you then this course has a lot to offer, I’ve done my best to organise the many resources available and create a brief ‘study plan’ for you to follow.
I will assume you know the basic rules of the game, like how each piece moves and a couple of special moves like capturing en-passant and castling.
In this course I will focus on breaking down the learning process and giving advice on where to start learning, resources available, and your attitude towards the game.
To practice the skills you need to improve your play in chess, use the online resources recommended in the class to practice tactics, openings, and endgames on a daily basis. I would also recommend playing a few games every day so that you don't fall out of practice.
