My name is Jeff Finley, I'm a freelance illustrator and designer. Despite outward signs of success, I was struggling internally with anxiety, depression, and self-doubt. I decided to start waking up early to focus on doing things that made me happy and fulfilled. Little did I know that this would transform my life! I ended up writing a book about my year of waking up early. It's a book about habit change, personal growth, and morning routines.
What does your current morning routine look like?
- A hurried and frenzied rush out the door?
- Sleeping in until the last possible minute?
- Mindlessly checking social media and not being productive?
What are your thoughts before you get out of bed?
- I didn't get enough sleep
- I'm not looking forward to today
- I wish I didn't have to go to work today
My Perfect Morning Routine
What does your ideal morning look like?
You will create your perfect morning routine. You have permission to fantasize about what your ideal morning looks like and then have the power to create it!
You will define each activity you want to engage in and decide how long you want to do it.
A typical morning routine looks like this:
7:00 am: Wake up, make bed, bathroom, brush teeth (10 min)
7:10 am: Write in journal (dreams, gratitude, daily goals, affirmations) (10 min)
7:20 am: Eat breakfast, make coffee (10 min)
7:30 am: Daily focus (see above) 60 minutes
8:30 am: Shower (20 min)
8:50 am: Do dishes, tidy up any messes (25 min)
9:15 am: Reading (15 min)
9:30 am: Break, miscellaneous (15 min)
9:45 am: Meditate, stretching, yoga, weights (15 min)
Knowing exactly what you will do in the morning helps prevent brain fog, self-doubt, and procrastination.
