3D CAD Fundamental (Coursera)

3D CAD Fundamental (Coursera)

There have many three-dimensional shape of the object in your brain that are wanted to share, but do not know how to express? How to "sketch" the three-dimensional image in your mind? 3D modeling technology can help us construct the most intuitive and understandable three-dimensional model. The use of floor plan interpret the three-dimensional object process-the most direct and effective expression of our ideas.

We have designed many paradigms so that people can quickly understand the logic of using 3D CAD software Sketchup and drawing skills, from introduction to advanced, and introduce SketchUp 3D modeling technologies. After completing "3D CAD Fundamental", it is no longer difficult to draw ideas that are beyond imagination with 3D modeling technology! The goal of this course is to construct a three-dimensional model, with the computer as the main teaching material, to enrich the fun paradigm and the complete drawing process. Step-by-step teach you how to use Sketchup's 3D modeling software technology. With the completion of "3D CAD Fundamental", you will be able to realize the 3D objects that exist in the imagination through 3D modeling!

Syllabus

WEEK 1
Initiation
Welcome to “3D CAD Fundamental”! We are going to learn functions of SketchUp and build 3D models. Using 3D models helps us demonstrate ideas more professionally and clearly.

WEEK 2
Magic Cube
Here comes the first example! We are going to learn modeling skills by drawing simple objects. We will draw a cube, then reformed it into steps by Divided Tool, create another cube by Push/Pull Tool, and finally make a hole on the cube by using Tape Measure, Guides and Push/Pull tool.

WEEK 3
Toy House
Now we will use more modeling tools. In this example, we are going to draw frame of a toy house using Move Tool, created the roof by Arcs, and draw lines on an inclined plane to finish the roof.

WEEK 4
Beach Ball
Let's begin to decorate objects! We will draw a sphere using Circle and Follow Me, and then use 3D Rotate and Copy to draw the surface of the sphere. Then, we will learn some selection tricks to delete all the unnecessary planes, and use the “Paint bucket” and our favorite colors to finish the beach ball.

WEEK 5
Curtain
Now we will learn more decoration skills. We are going to use the Scale Tool to create deformations on the curtain we drew, use Move tool together with the measurements box, and decorate it by Mirror and Soften effect.

WEEK 6
Solid Tool
The last example is coming! We are going to learn how to create different shaped objects, by using one object to add or remove a piece of volume to another object.

WEEK 7
Closure
Congratulations! You are equipped with these useful tools and ready to explore the world of 3D modeling. Let’s move on the journey of 3D modeling to”3D CAD Application!

VLSI CAD Part I: Logic (Coursera)

A modern VLSI chip has a zillion parts -- logic, control, memory, interconnect, etc. How do we design these complex chips? Answer: CAD software tools. Learn how to build thesA modern VLSI chip is a remarkably complex beast: billions of transistors, millions of logic gates deployed for computation and control, big blocks of memory, embedded blocks of pre-designed functions designed by third parties (called “intellectual property” or IP blocks). How do people manage to design these complicated chips? Answer: a sequence of computer aided design (CAD) tools takes an abstract description of the chip, and refines it step-wise to a final design.

Modern Robotics, Course 6: Capstone Project, Mobile Manipulation (Coursera)

The capstone project of the Modern Robotics specialization is on mobile manipulation: simultaneously controlling the motion of a wheeled mobile base and its robot arm to achieve a manipulation task. This project integrates several topics from the specialization, including trajectory planning, odometry for mobile robots, and feedback control. Beginning from the Modern Robotics software library provided to you (written in Python, Mathematica, and MATLAB), and software you have written for previous courses, you will develop software to plan and control the motion of a mobile manipulator to perform a pick and place task.

Material Processing (Coursera)

Have you ever wondered why ceramics are hard and brittle while metals tend to be ductile? Why some materials conduct heat or electricity while others are insulators? Why adding just a small amount of carbon to iron results in an alloy that is so much stronger than the base metal? In this course, you will learn how a material’s properties are determined by the microstructure of the material, which is in turn determined by composition and the processing that the material has undergone.
