Sriyanie Miththapala
Dr. Sriyanie Miththapala, PhD. is a long-term consultant with IUCN, International Union for Conservation of Nature and supports work for its headquarters, the Washington DC office, the Sri Lanka Country office and formerly, the Asian regional office. She has nearly 30 years of experience in biodiversity conservation and integrating disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation into biodiversity/ecosystem management. She has often trained students and adults with no knowledge of the subject to understand the drivers of ecosystem change and elucidate the link between ecosystem well-being and human well-being. She is a Commission member of IUCN’s Commission on Ecosystem Management and Commission on Education and Communication. Her contribution to this EbA e-learning course was the strength of her technical knowledge and experience in the field, as well as her ability to simplify and present complex material. She is a natural history writer and illustrator and has many publications that range from scientific papers, reports to books and articles on biology for laypersons.
