Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh

Michael is also Director of the Bayes Centre, the Universityʼs innovation hub for Data Science and AI. Michael has worked in AI for the past twenty years, and his research interests are mainly in multi-agent systems, i.e. systems where either artificial or human agents collaborate or compete with each other. Most recently, he has been working on algorithmic fairness and other aspects of ethical AI, including the development of human-centric AI methods to understand and resolve usersʼ concerns with online platforms.
