Mercè Villanueva is graduated in Mathematics in 1994 from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and obtained her Master's Degree and Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1996 and 2001, respectively, from the same university.
In 1994 she joined the Department of Information Engineering and Communications of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, as an assistante professor, and was promoted to full professor in 2002. Her research focuses on issues related to combinatorics, digital communications, coding theory and graph theory.
