Mei Hong

Mei Hong is Professor of Chemistry at MIT. She received her B.A. in Chemistry from Mount Holyoke College and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley. Hong joined the MIT faculty in 2014, and has since taught general chemistry, undergraduate physical chemistry, and graduate-level spectroscopy. Hong’s research centers on the development and application of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy to investigate the structure, dynamics and mechanism of action of biological macromolecules. In particular, she studies virus membrane proteins and human amyloid proteins. Hong is an author of over 200 publications and has received a number of awards, including the Pure Chemistry award and the Nakanishi Prize from the American Chemical Society.
