In her present function as Program Manager of Algal and Microbial Products and Director of AlgaePARC Maria Barbosa has successfully started and presently manages a new research program with the goal of bridging fundamental research performed at university and commercial applications (business) to accelerate innovation in the field of biotechnology. In the past she worked as a program Manager at EMBO, Heidelberg, Germany and I has been a post doc at ETH (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) on bioengineering. She obtained her PhD in 2003 at Wageningen University on bioprocess engineering.
