Margarita Chli

I am Chancellor's Fellow and Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the Institute of Perception, Action and Behaviour (IPAB) of the University of Edinburgh. I am currently visiting the Autonomous Systems Lab (ASL) of ETH Zurich, where I held the post of Deputy Director, Senior Researcher and Lecturer between 2010-2013.
Previously, I was at the Robot Vision Group of Imperial College London, where I obtained my PhD on Applying Information Theory to Efficient SLAM under the supervision of Andrew Davison.
My research interest is in Vision for Robotics, focusing on real-time perception for micro-aerial vehicles and I have the pleasure to work with some brilliant students and researchers in this area, leading the scientific activities in the following European projects:

• SHERPA, aiming at developing a robotic team to aid alpine search and rescue,
• myCopter, researching the technologies necessary for automating personal aerial transportation,
• sFly, building a small swarm of micro helicopters equiped with cameras to autonomously map a disaster area (article in IEEE Spectrum).
