Johan van Schalkwyk

Dr Johan van Schalkwyk is Physician who works at Auckland District Health Board in New Zealand. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesiology at the University of Auckland. He worked as an Intensivist for ten years but now practises Perioperative Medicine in the Department of Anaesthesia and Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Auckland Hospital. His special interests include acute pain management, prevention of medical error, and computer programming. He can code in a variety of computer languages, including SQL, Perl, PHP, Javascript, Python and C/C++. His interest in the Stewart approach to acid base dates back more than fifteen years.
