Gwen Harris

Gwen is an information consultant specializing in Web searching and online education.
She has been teaching Web searching in classrooms and on the Web since 1994, and also designing and supporting online courses in the field of information. Much of the teaching has been through the iSchool Institute at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto.
Currently she teaches Mastering Web Searching online, a web-based course provided through the iSchool Institute at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto. In 2001 she received the Institute’s Outstanding Teaching Award.
Years ago, she co-developed The Internet Guide (1996-2002), one of the earliest self-paced web-based courses to build skills in using the Web. It was used widely in Canada by librarians and the volunteer sector.
She has been consultant and instructional designer on several elearning projects for continuing education and for academic terms, many of them delivered through Blackboard learning management system.
Her alma maters are Queen’s University – Master of Business Administration, and the University of Toronto – Master of Library Science.
