Gerhard Hoffstaedter

Gerhard is the course director of World101x. He is a Lecturer in Anthropology in the School of Social Science at The University of Queensland. His main areas of research include religion, ethnicity and the state, international development and refugees in South-East Asia. He currently holds an Australian Research Council Discovery Early Career Research Award to produce an in-depth ethnography of the refugee experience in Malaysia. He is also an ordinary director of the Australian Anthropological Society and co-founder of the Melbourne Free University.
