Gemma Mojica

Gemma Foust Mojica’s research and teaching interests focus on teacher education in elementary mathematics education. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education, with a minor in Statistics, from North Carolina State University. Her doctoral work examined the role of learning trajectories in prospective elementary teachers’ understanding of children’s mathematical thinking. Mojica is interested in how prospective teachers’ knowledge about students’ reasoning develops as they progress through their teacher education program into their initial teaching experiences. She is also interested in exploring the types of experiences in teacher education that support teachers in creating environments where all students engage in high levels of mathematics.
Mojica teaches courses in mathematics education in the Elementary Education program.
