Brendan Harding

Brendan is a researcher in applied mathematics and specialises in numerical methods for solving partial differential equations. He completed a PhD working on the development of algorithms that would run on supercomputers and still provide useful results if part of the machine failed. His current research focus is studying the way small particles behave when placed in a fluid and then pumped through very small curved ducts. This work can be applied to detect circulating tumour cells in the blood sample of a cancer patient. He also has a background in fractal geometry and is good at making pretty images using nothing but mathematics and a bit of programming skill.
