Anna Murray

Anna is a senior lecturer in genetics at UEMS. She is part of the ‘Genetics of Complex Traits‘ research group and is also a member of the Wellcome Trust funded Biomedical Informatics Hub. Her main research expertise is in the field of reproductive genetics and she has published on single gene mutations which cause premature ovarian failure and also genome-wide studies to detect novel loci involved in reproductive ageing.
Anna has a degree in biology from Southampton University, where she also completed her PhD, investigating the molecular biology of coeliac disease and T cell lymphoma of the gut. She spent 5 years as a postdoc in Professor Pat Jacobs‘ lab in Salisbury investigating the population genetics and molecular basis of fragile X syndrome. In 1998 Anna received a Career Development Fellowship from the Wellcome Trust to work on the association between the fragile X mutation and premature ovarian failure. Following a short career break to have her daughter, Anna moved to Exeter in 2005. Anna was appointed as a lecturer in 2008 and senior lecturer in 2011.
