Did you ever want to paint a portrait of your cat in watercolor, but he/she would not sit for you? Cats can be difficult subjects. I will teach you to paint a cat in watercolor(from a photo). We will go over watercolor techniques, color, brush techniques and painting fur. You will come away with a basic understanding of watercolor and how to create your own painting of a cat.
My name Is Linda Berkowitz and I'm a watercolor artist, art teacher and painter of pet portraits. My work has been shown and is in collections in NYC and around the US and Canada. One of the things I love to paint is animal portraits, especially my cats. After one of them was diagnosed with cancer, I began painting pet portraits to pay for the treatment and that was the beginning.
This class is for anyone who is interested in learning to paint in watercolor, cat lovers, animal lovers, artists and illustrators.

Let's Get Started! For our class project we will create a watercolor painting of a cat. Using the materials and videos provided and following step by step this project should be simple and fun. You will notice that I used a photo as reference for the cat, but changed the background to grass and eliminated some of the detail. Feel free to paint the areas around the cat (background) any way you like. This could be a solid color, paint grass as I did or come up with your own background.
