Principles in Organizational Consulting (CDI)

Principles in Organizational Consulting (CDI)

This Series provides easy-to-understand explanations and downloadable tools to build your acumen in business and guiding successful change. The Series provides clear and concise descriptions to help you understand the “big picture” of organizations, including the various activities within them and how they all work together, whether in for-profits, nonprofits or government. This Series is relevant to advisors, trainers, facilitators, coaches, mentors, leaders and staff roles working in organizations or independently.

This Series provides user-friendly and practical descriptions of organizations and how they work, so you will always feel comfortable in discussing and analyzing the workings of your client’s organization or your own. It helps you to truly understand the world in which your clients and employees work, especially the “business” workings of their organizations.
You’ll grasp key principles, practices and roles for guiding successful change in systems. You’ll remember each of the most important components to always include in your change-management plans. Based on current trends in organizations, you’ll gain core strategies to recommend to your clients and others so their organizations can thrive well into the future.
The Series includes four courses, each with a pre and post assessment, downloadable tools, Learning Journal, concise and practical video, and numerous sources of additional learning. Each can include interaction with faculty and other learners in an online discussion group. Learners can join or form their own self-facilitated peer learning groups.

What you’ll learn:

  • Make sense of the overall system of any organization, including its interactions with stakeholders outside of the system
  • Recognize the major functions within an organization, how each is a subsystem, and how you can align and integrate them within your client’s’ organizations
  • Determine the current stage of an organization and what’s needed to evolve to the next stage
  • Talk about “performance” with your clients, including the performance management process, and how to integrate that process into your consulting project
  • Guide your clients to align project goals with the organization’s overall objectives and strategies
  • Develop change-management plans that integrate key phases for long-lasting and successful change in any type of organization
  • Anticipate the barriers to change that can occur, plan how to avoid or overcome each
  • Recognize key trends in organizations, leadership, management and consulting, and consider how your clients and you can benefit from those trends
  • Effectively respond to the changes in your profession and in the world around you

Note: You can start the course anytime. The course ends 60 days after the start date.

Management of Urban Infrastructures – part 1 (Coursera)

Sustainability, Resilience and Efficiency are fundamental considerations for city managers in managing urban infrastructures. Today, more than 3.9 billion people, making up more than 54% of the global population, live in cities. Urbanization is expected to continue in the coming years, raising the urban population to 6.0 billion by 2045. This dramatic increase in urban populations will inevitably increase the demand for energy, mobility (transportation), water, and other urban services in every city around the world. Without functional governance and management structures that ensure efficient, resilient and sustainable performance in cities, the current urbanization growth might become a catastrophic risk threatening the quality of life of the humanity.
