What you'll learn

  • Learn about the wide variety of IT security roles and responsibilities and how they support organizational security.
  • Understand and apply Microsoft Windows operations tasks, including basic computer setup, management and security.
  • Describe and apply the basics of network function, from internal networks to web browsing safety best practices.

Syllabus

Module 1: Cybersecurity Support Roles
Cybersecurity encompasses a very wide range of roles and requires a high degree of collaborative teamwork. This module will help you to summarize the wide range of functions taken on by IT security staff and the types of cybersecurity threats that each role is responsible for analyzing and mitigating. This module is also an opportunity for you to understand the diverse paths that you can take when pursuing a career in IT security assurance.

Module 2: Microsoft Windows Administration Fundamentals
A computer's operating system (OS) provides interfaces that allow a user to operate the computer. As a security specialist, you need to use administrative interfaces to perform tasks that ordinary users are not permitted to do, such as installing and uninstalling apps. Most desktop computers and laptops run the Microsoft Windows operating system. The lessons in this module will help you to operate Windows and use basic management tools to report system status and configure the computer.

Module 3: Secure Network Client Fundamentals
During this module, you will learn about the basic functions of network protocols and the use of SOHO routers. In addition, you will learn how to use best practices to browse the web safely.
